Thinking of teaching with us?

1Which skills are you hiring for?

Yoga, pilates, zumba, Hindustani classical vocal, western vocal, guitar, ukulele, piano, English, German and Telugu. New skills are added from time to time; you can apply for a skill not listed and we'll keep you on file.

2Is this a job or freelance work?

You teach as an independent professional, paid for each completed class. You choose your hours and can keep other work.

3How much can I earn?

You're paid a rate per hour for every class you complete, agreed at onboarding based on your skill, experience and demo class. Payouts are monthly, for the classes completed that month (see the Teacher Payout Policy).

4How many hours do I need to give?

At least 6 hours a week of availability. Many teachers offer more; you can grow your schedule over time.

5Do I need to find my own learners?

No. MakRew brings learners, handles payments and support. You focus on teaching.

6What qualifications do I need?
SkillTypical requirement
YogaYCB (Yoga Certification Board) or Yoga Alliance RYT-200 or equivalent, + 1 year teaching, or extensive experience teaching yoga
Pilates / zumbaRecognised certification (e.g. ZIN for zumba) + 1 year teaching
Music (vocal / instruments)Formal training (graded exams such as Trinity, ABRSM, Rockschool, Gandharva or a music degree) or equivalent performing record, + 2 years teaching
LanguagesDegree or recognised certificate (e.g. Goethe B2/C1 for German, CELTA/TESOL for English) or native fluency + teaching experience

Exceptional experience can stand in for certificates; tell us about it in your application.

7Can I apply from outside India?

Yes, if you can teach in Indian and international time zones and receive payment in an Indian bank account, or abroad where agreed at onboarding.

8What equipment do I need?

A laptop or desktop with webcam, a good microphone or headphones, stable internet of 10 Mbps or more, a backup connection, good lighting and a tidy, quiet teaching space. Instrument teachers need their instrument; fitness teachers need floor space visible on camera.

9The selection process
  1. Apply online with your details, certifications, teaching experience and a profile or portfolio link. (Your intro video is added to your profile after onboarding.)
  2. Profile screening (within 5 working days).
  3. Interview (45-60 minutes on video) about your experience and teaching approach.
  4. Demo class (30 minutes) with a MakRew reviewer acting as a learner; we score it on a set rubric.
  5. Checks: ID, references, and a background verification if you'll teach under-18s.
  6. Offer letter with your rate and start date.
  7. Onboarding: platform training, child-safety training and profile setup, then your first bookings.

The whole process usually takes about 2 weeks.

10What happens in the demo class?

You teach a short beginner-level lesson of your choice. We look at how you connect, explain, correct and structure the class, and how well you use the online format.

11If I'm not selected, can I reapply?

Yes, after 6 months. We'll share brief feedback where we can.

12Do I pay anything to apply or join?

No. MakRew never charges teachers to apply, train or join. If anyone asks you for money in MakRew's name, report it to career@makrew.live.

13How do I apply to teach?

Fill in the Teach@MakRew form. Your application goes through six steps:

  1. Apply: we receive your form.
  2. Documents: we check your certificates and ID.
  3. Screening interview.
  4. Demo class, scored by our team.
  5. Background check: references and verification.
  6. Onboarding: you accept the offer and set up your teacher account.
14How is my rate set?

You have a rate for a learner's first 1:1 session, one for session plan classes and, if you teach groups, one for group classes, all in one currency. They're in your offer letter: discussed and agreed at onboarding and set by MakRew. Your dashboard Home shows the ones that apply to you.

15When does my profile go live?

Learners can see and book you once four steps are done; your Home shows the checklist:

  • availability saved for at least one week;
  • a profile photo;
  • a write-up of at least 100 characters;
  • an intro video approved by MakRew.
16How do I add my intro video?

Upload it in Profile ▸ Intro video (MP4 works best; WebM and MOV too; up to 200 MB). MakRew reviews every new video before it appears. If we decline it, you'll see why and can upload another. Your current approved video stays live meanwhile.

17How do I set my availability?

In My Schedule ▸ Availability, tick the hours you can teach, one week at a time: this week and the next 8. Weeks run Monday to Sunday. A week you haven't changed uses your usual times. Times are on the hour, shown in your time zone.
