Child Safety & Parental Consent Policy
Effective date: [Effective Date]
Any learner under 18 takes MakRew classes only through a parent's or guardian's account, after verified parental consent, in sessions that are recorded and open to the parent. This policy sets out how we protect children before, during and after class.
1. Who this covers
All learners under 18, their parents or lawful guardians, every MakRew teacher, and MakRew staff with access to children's data.
2. Parental account and verifiable consent
- A parent or lawful guardian creates the account, adds the child as a learner profile and accepts the Terms of Service.
- We verify that the person consenting is an identifiable adult, for example by a one-time password to the parent's registered mobile number plus a declaration of relationship, or by checking against identity details already verified with us, in line with the DPDP Rules, 2025.
- We collect only what is needed for the child's classes. We do not run behavioural tracking or targeted advertising directed at children.
- The parent can view the child's bookings, recordings, messages and progress, and can withdraw consent or close the profile at any time.
3. Safe-class rules for every session with a minor
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Platform only | Classes run only in the MakRew session room; no private video calls |
| Recording on | Sessions with minors are recorded by default and kept for 30 days |
| Parent reachable | A parent or guardian is at home and reachable; for under-[12]s, present in the room at the first session |
| Open door | The child joins from a common area, not a closed bedroom, where possible |
| Messaging | Teacher–learner messages go through the platform and are visible to the parent; no personal phone, WhatsApp or social media contact |
| No physical meeting | Teachers may not meet a learner offline or arrange to |
| Appropriate content | Age-appropriate language, music, examples and attire at all times |
| No photos | Teachers do not take or keep screenshots or photos of learners |
4. Teacher screening and training
- Identity and address verification, reference checks and a self-declaration of no criminal record for every teacher; police verification certificate for teachers who teach minors.
- Mandatory child-safety training at onboarding and every year.
- Random quality and safety review of recorded sessions with minors.
5. Recognising and reporting concerns
Warning signs include a teacher asking for secrecy, private contact, gifts, personal photos, or to move off the platform.
How to report:
- Use Report a concern (the shield at the top of your dashboard), or email legal@makrew.live / call +918867192929. Only MakRew's safety team reads it, and the teacher isn't told who reported it.
- Our Child Safety Lead, [Name], acknowledges within 24 hours.
- The teacher is suspended from sessions with minors while we investigate.
- Where the law requires, including under the POCSO Act, 2012, we report to the police or Childline (1098). We cooperate fully with authorities.
- We share the outcome with the parent and keep a confidential record.
6. Children's data
Children's data is handled under our Privacy Policy with extra limits: no marketing to children, no use of a child's image or recording in publicity, and deletion on the parent's request unless the law requires us to keep it.
