Teacher Code of Conduct
Effective date: [Effective Date]
Every MakRew class must be safe, respectful and focused on the learner. This code applies in sessions, messages, recordings and any other contact with MakRew learners and staff.
1. Put the learner first
- Teach to the learner's goals, pace and level; adapt when something isn't working.
- Encourage, never humiliate. Correct technique with specific, kind feedback.
- Be honest about progress; never promise results (exam grades, weight loss, fluency by a date).
2. Be professional
- Be on time, prepared and fully present: no phone use, eating or side conversations during class.
- Dress modestly and appropriately for the skill; fitness teachers wear proper activewear.
- Teach from a quiet, well-lit space with a neutral background; no other people on camera.
- Keep messages to class matters, within 8 am–9 pm in the learner's time zone, and reply within 24 hours.
3. Respect and inclusion
- No discrimination or remarks on religion, caste, gender, sexuality, disability, body shape, age, nationality or accent.
- No political or religious preaching. Spiritual context in yoga or classical music is fine when it serves the lesson and the learner is comfortable.
- Respect the learner's privacy, home and family.
4. Physical safety (fitness and wellness)
- Read the readiness form before each new learner's first class.
- Demonstrate and cue safely; give modifications; never push a learner through pain.
- Stop the session and advise medical help if a learner shows warning signs (chest pain, dizziness, breathlessness).
- Never give medical, diet or medication advice beyond your qualification.
5. Boundaries and safeguarding
Never:
- Contact learners outside makrew.live (personal phone, WhatsApp, social media, email) or ask for theirs.
- Arrange private lessons, take direct payments, or accept gifts above ₹[500].
- Make romantic, sexual or suggestive comments or requests, or share any such content.
- Ask a learner to keep anything secret from their parent or from MakRew.
- Take screenshots, photos or recordings of learners.
- Teach a learner under 18 without the platform's recording on, or meet any learner in person.
Always:
- Keep sessions with minors within view of the parent-access rules in the Child Safety Policy.
- Report any concern about a child's safety to the Child Safety Lead within 24 hours, even if it is about another teacher or someone at the learner's home.
6. Honesty and integrity
- Mark attendance, no-shows and notes truthfully.
- Don't post fake reviews, ask learners for ratings in exchange for anything, or criticise MakRew or other teachers to learners.
- Use only content you have the right to use.
7. Confidentiality
Keep learner details, recordings and MakRew materials private, during and after your engagement.
8. Reporting and consequences
Report breaches by others to career@makrew.live or legal@makrew.live; reports are confidential and protected.
| Level | Examples | Typical outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Minor | Late notes, casual dress, slow replies | Reminder and coaching |
| Moderate | Repeated lateness, unprofessional remarks, sharing contact details | Written warning, bookings paused |
| Serious | Harassment, solicitation, discrimination, falsified attendance | Engagement ended; payout hold |
| Child safety | Any safeguarding breach | Immediate suspension, investigation, report to authorities where required |
You'll always have a chance to give your side before a final decision, except where immediate suspension is needed to protect a learner.
I have read and agree to follow this Code of Conduct.
